AZA Accreditation
Atlantis Dubai is the first destination in the Middle East to have been granted accreditation from the Association of Zoos & Aquariums (AZA), an internationally recognised, gold standard accreditation.
What does AZA accreditation mean?
AZA’s independent commission accredits only the world’s highest-achieving aquariums and zoos that have met or surpassed their rigorous, ever-improving standards. Recognised as the gold standard amongst zoological facilities within the industry, AZA accreditation is a type of quality assurance. The certification applies to our entire operation including animal welfare, veterinary care, conservation, education, guest services, physical facilities, and safety.

WAZA Membership
Atlantis Dubai is a member of the World Association of Zoos and Aquariums (WAZA), a global alliance of regional associations and national federations dedicated to the care and conservation of animals and their habitats around the world.
What does WAZA membership mean?
In joining WAZA, Atlantis Dubai has become a member of a 400-strong global community working to support wildlife and improve animal welfare standards. WAZA brings together world-class zoos and aquariums, associations, as well as leading wildlife experts, academies, and universities, to encourage the highest standards for global animal welfare among its member institutions, while leveraging support for species conservation management.
Why is it important?
One of Atlantis Dubai's key priorities, and the second pillar of the Atlantis Atlas Project is Conservation and Animal Welfare and in order to protect wildlife globally, collaboration is key. WAZA membership is the backbone to this collaboration through its network of experts actively working in the field, which Atlantis Dubai’s marine specialists actively contribute to.
