How Respect And Growth Go Hand In Hand

Kudzai Matienga, Therapist AWAKEN Atlantis The Royal

January 22, 2024 | By Atlantis Team

Born and raised in Zimbabwe, Kudzai completed her cosmetology program in South Africa. Her journey at Atlantis started in October 2020 when she joined the Nailology team as a technician. In August 2023, she transferred to AWAKEN Atlantis The Royal and holds the position of Therapist. As someone who always wanted to work in the beauty industry, being a therapist at the world's most ultra-luxurious experiential resort is a dream come true.

“For someone who supports my family back home in Zimbabwe, I can't even explain what this opportunity means to me or how great it feels to be treated like a professional in the workplace. So far the experience is just amazing. I'm learning so much; every day feels like I'm stepping in as a new person. I enjoy performing our signature treatments, especially the AWAKEN massage. Even if I had the opportunity to transfer to another department, I would choose to remain in the Spa team and develop myself and others as a Departmental Trainer. I'm also looking forward to someday creating new treatments and helping to maintain our high standards. It will go hand in hand with my plans to enroll in a spa management course to enhance my level of education and knowledge.”

On A Personal Note

Growing up, Kudzai wanted to be a beautician, so she has no regrets about her current career. For her, it is such a great opportunity to work at Atlantis because the brand is recognised all around the world.

Outside of work, she is learning how to play the guitar and keyboard. Kudzai is actually a musician back home, and some of her music is played on air in Zimbabwe.

Enjoys, knitting and making jerseys, scarves and hats.

Loves basketball and netball.

Prefers a holiday in the countryside to one by the beach.
