The Ocean Club Golf Academy offers golf instruction to all skill levels at the Ocean Club Golf Course. The certified and highly skilled Director of Instruction and Instructors are available by appointment on a daily basis. Come and improve your game.

*You must be a registered guest at Atlantis Resort, Harbourside Resort, Comfort Suites or One and Only Resort in order to take lessons/playing lessons. There is no charge with club rentals, shoe rentals and video instruction when taking golf lessons/playing lessons. The cancellation policy is as follows, if you have a lesson in the AM then you must call before 5pm the day before to cancel with no charge (weather pending). If you have a lesson in the PM, you must cancel by 10am to cancel with no charge (weather pending). Any lessons that receive no call and no show will be charged full rate to the guest’s credit card or room (weather pending). When the weather is in question, please feel free to contact the Ocean Golf Shop and ask to speak with the Golf Professional.
Mike Simms, PGA of Canada and Director of Golf Instruction
Mike brings a vast amount of instructional experience to the Ocean Club. He has been with Ocean Club since 2009 and was the lead instructor for the Michael Jordan Celebrity Invitational in 2010. From 2007-2009, he was the Class A Teaching Professional at the ultra exclusive Lyford Cay Club in Nassau, Bahamas. From 2001-2006, he completed his PGA of Canada apprenticeship to become a Class A member at the Country Club in Toronto, Canada.
Mike has a Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of Western Ontario (2001) and a Professional Golf Management Degree from the Golf Management Institute of Canada (2006). Mike has a passion for living an active lifestyle and enjoys the thrill of competition. He has an extensive Junior, Collegiate and Professional Golf resume and competes on the PGA of Canada circuit. He also enjoys playing hockey in the Nassau Street Hockey League and participating in Half marathon competitions where he finished 160th in the 2009 ING Miami Half Marathon and 3rd place in the 2010 Bahamas Half Marathon.
Mike’s teaching philosophy is to work with each individual student and find ways for that individual to play better golf. Mike says “Golf is a difficult game and everybody is built differently so there is no way you can have one model golf swing”. Mike uses his JC Video Motion Analysis (Video Instruction) for most of his lessons on the range.
As our Director of Instruction, Mike will be overseeing all Junior and Adult Instructional Programs. It is his goal to make sure that you get the most out of your game in a fun and safe environment during your stay at the Ocean Club.
